Welcome to Hideaway Horse Camp!

Hideaway is located in the Okanagan Highlands, approximately 15 kms east of Oliver, BC, the Wine Capital of Canada. Situated at an elevation of 3,450 ft (1,050m), the camp is 2,450 ft above the valley floor, making it a cooler environment than the valley which, allows for more comfortable riding opportunities in the heat of the summer. With ready access to endless trails on Crown Land and a safe and private place to camp, Hideaway Horse Camp hopes to make your stay a truly enjoyable one.

Tucked in a corner of a forested, 10 acre property, Hideaway proudly offers 4 horse camping sites. Each site is guaranteed a separate, double corral.

The trails here are endless. First logged about 80 years ago and then about 50 years ago, the trails are often very old logging roads. The open forest is predominately Douglas fir, interspersed with some Ponderosa Pine and Larch. It's a mecca for barefoot horses because the trails have great footing. There are very few spots that have any rock at all. The area has been used as range land for many years, so abundant cattle trails interconnect with the main trails, making it fun to explore that wisp of a trail that beckons through the trees.

Wildlife abounds so bring your binoculars. You may be lucky and catch a glimpse of some magnificent elk before they vanish in the trees or even spot the rare white-headed woodpecker.

Hideaway Horse Camp is well suited for group bookings. Plan a ladies holiday. Celebrate a special occasion with family and friends. How about a 4H get-a-way?

You don't have to have horses to camp here. We have branched out into having family groups that want to celebrate special occasions in a private setting. The Okanagan Valley offers a great variety of things to do for people of all ages.

The 2021 Nk'Mip wildfire affected several of our trails. During 2022, many of the areas that were severely burnt have been logged, creating some stunning views that have never been seen before. However, many of the trails were untouched or lightly burnt and offer lots of shade on hot days.

The 2023 season opens on the May long weekend. Come see for yourself what a beautiful place this is to camp and ride.
